Thank you for your interest in a My Little Shadow Shih Tzu puppy. Our goal is to place each puppy in a loving, lifelong home.
To begin the adoption process, interested families must complete and submit a Puppy Adoption Application. Applications may be returned via email at dorfmuellerm@gmail.com for review.
Once an application has been received, the breeder will verify that the applicant has a relationship with a qualified veterinarian. Upon approval, a $500 deposit will be required to reserve a spot on the waiting list. The deposit is non-refundable and will be applied toward the puppy's final adoption fee.
Families will be placed on the waitlist in the order deposits are received. Puppy selection order is determined solely by deposit date, ensuring a fair and transparent process for all families.
Throughout the process, we are committed to maintaining open communication and helping each family find the puppy that is the best fit for their home and lifestyle.
Please note that submission of an application does not guarantee approval or placement of a puppy. We reserve the right to decline any application if we believe another home would be a better fit for one of our puppies.
At My Little Shadow Shih Tzu We believe that matching each puppy with the right family is just as important as finding the right puppy. To ensure a fair and thoughtful selection process, all puppy picks are made in the order that deposits are received.
Families may indicate a preference for a male or female puppy during the application process. If the desired gender is not available in the litter, the family's deposit will be fully refunded.
Puppy selection will begin at about six weeks of age. By this age, each puppy's personality has started to emerge, allowing families to make a more informed decision based on temperament as well as appearance.
From the time a deposit is received until pickup or delivery day, families will receive regular updates, including weekly videos and opportunities for FaceTime visits. These updates allow families to watch their puppy grow, become familiar with the litter, and feel connected to their future family member throughout the process.
When it's a family's turn to select a puppy, they will be given 24 hours to make their decision. If a selection is not made within that time frame, the breeder may move to the next family in line while continuing to work with the family regarding available puppies.
Our goal is to make the puppy selection process enjoyable, transparent, and focused on creating the best possible match between each puppy and their forever family.
Puppies will be ready to join their new families at approximately 10 weeks of age after receiving their age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, and a health clearance from our veterinarian.

Pickup arrangements will be coordinated in advance to ensure a smooth transition for both the puppy and their new family.
For families unable to travel to one of the designated pickup locations, delivery options may be available for an additional fee. Delivery fee will vary based on distance, trave requirements, and scheduling. Please contact us to discuss available delivery arrangements and pricing.
